How I planned to shoot this commercial shoot.
Every photographer plans a shoot differently. Personally, I like to base it off the vibes of my clients. For instance, Saturday, I photographed The Houston Street Duo. Before I photographed them, I looked at their photos and listened to their songs. I was contracted by a digital marketing company to photograph them so I didn't necessarily get to casually "chit-chat" with them to figure them out. However, I also asked the people I was contracted by to describe the people that this duo idolized, or wanted to be like in terms of musicians.
After studying everything I could about them, I gave them outfit lists and gave them a brief description of the photos I was going to take. And after that I researched some spots I wanted to photograph. I was in Red Bank, NJ for the shoot so I looked at spots relatively close together around there before I took photos of them playing in Danny's Steakhouse and Sushi, due to the dark settings that the restaurant/bar would have.
Also, I had thought about shots of bands, and googled as well, by other photographers for some ideas of vibes I could give off in the photos. I also thought back to my last blog post about Annie Leibovitz and her shots for rolling stones. The Houston Street Duo gave me a vibe of Rolling Stones Magazine and really gave me something to work off of.
I ended up doing the photoshoot in a field and by an abandoned house, as well as another abandoned building, as well some other places. It was truly a great shoot, the Duo, as well as me, enjoyed the shoot. We were shooting from 3:00PM to about 10:30PM, it was long but I had taken a decent amount of photos that came out great with a good artistic touch.
